The Annual Inter Montessori Art Exhibition and Awards Ceremony organised by Wycherley International School was held on 29th March 2015 at the National Art Gallery. The Exhibition was open from 9.00am and the Awards Ceremony commenced at 10.30am. There were 30 Medalists selected out of a contest totaling 220 participants.
Art is an essential pre-requisite in the development of a child’s mind. In Latin Art means “Skill” or “Craft”. An Art Exhibition is traditionally the space in which the art objects meet the eye of the Audience. This was exactly the purpose of the Exhibition for Parents to view the art work of their kids. We were doubly proud to work out the 6th Annual Inter Montessori Art Awards as Wycherley notched 30 years of academic excellence in January 2015.
The Awards Ceremony got off to a start with the Principal of Wycherley International School, Mr. Kingsley Jayasinghe as the honoured guest. There were 27 Consolation Awards that went out to various Montessoris, apart from the 3 Winners.
1st Prize - Toshith Ekanayake of Little Learners Montessori – Pelawatta
2nd Prize - Kailyn Perera of St Bridgets Montessori
3rd Prize - Dineli Ahasna Perera of Visakha Nursery
The framed paintings were a gift from Wycherley to the kids who participated, much to the delight of the child as well as the Parents. Many Parents expressed their appreciation of the opportunity given to their kids by Wycherley International School. A child’s world is a window that gives him or her opportunity to walk through the doors of life and we will build that confidence in a child.
